Admittedly there is lots of skill and strategy's to win at poker but fundamentally it is down to the hand of cards you have in many cases!

Poker Hand Rankings

Strongest hands at the top the weakest at the bottom
Poker Hand What cards the hand is made up from (A=Ace, K=King etc)

Royal Flush

A, K, Q, J, 10 all the same suit
Straight Flush 5 cards of the same suit in order. e.g. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
4 of a Kind 4 same cards in different suits. E.g. 3, 3, 3, 3
Full House 3 of a kind plus 1 pair. E.g. 6, 6, 6, K, K
Flush 5 cards in the same suit but not in any order. E.g. 2, 4, 5, 8, K (all hearts)
Straight 5 cards in order but not of the same suit. E.g. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
3 of a Kind 3 same cards in different suits. E.g. Q, Q, Q
2 Pair 2 different pairs. E.g. 2, 2, J, J
Pair 2 cards the same. E.g. 9, 9
High Card When you have no pairs or flush the highest card in the hand is used to determine how strong the hand is. If no players have any other combination above, the one with the highest card wins
  The following 2 Poker hands are only available if wild cards are being played.
Wild Royal Flush Same as a Royal Flush but at least one of the cards a wild card.
E.g. 10, wild, Q, K, A
Five of a Kind 5 same cards in different suits.
E.g. 3, 3, 3, 3, wild
The Poker hands listed above are arranged with the strongest poker hand at the top with the weakest poker hand at the bottom


Learn Poker
Although poker is a game that can be easily picked up it can take a while to master all the different techniques
and strategy's to playing it. Anyone starting out must learn the Poker Hand rankings.

If you are playing offline this is not as easy to do so it is worth taking some time to learn the rankings. All you need to do is jot down the poker hands in order and keep having a look at it.

The thing with poker is that once you get into it there are so many other things you can be thinking about and strategy's to play or work out that the poker hands should come as second nature to you.
